Lois Walton Obituary

LEWISTON -- Lois G. Walton, 72, a resident of Turner, died suddenly Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Central Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 18, 1936, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of Donat and Josephine (Maguire) Chicoine. She graduated from Livermore Falls High School, class of 1955.

On Oct. 15, 1955, she married Robert Walton, in Wayne. They were married 53 years.

She was a homemaker to her family, and owned and operated Lois & Pat's Store in North Turner for years. After the sale of the business, she continued to work there for another 15 years, having cooked an egg for almost everyone in Turner.

Lois, along with her husband, Bob, enjoyed following the sporting events of their children, grandchildren and all those she considered her grandchildren. She enjoyed bingo, Saturday night at the stock car races, and cooking her peanut butter fudge for everyone. Lois looked forward to her morning breakfast and social visits with her sister, Patty, at McDonald's. She was an extremely giving person. She enjoyed meeting and entertaining the foreign-exchange students visiting at Maranacook. She loved the Boston Red Sox, and could not wait to tell you about her favorite player, Manny Ramirez. She was a member of the Extension Group of Turner and the original Family Sports Boosters, and helped in the fundraising effort for Turner Rescue.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Turner; a daughter, Cindy Kenny and her husband, Gary, of Wayne; two sons, Warren Walton and his wife, Shannon, of Turner, and Todd Walton, of Turner; three grandchildren, Andy and Hannah Kenny, and Tyler Walton; three sisters, Dorothy Perry, of Canton, Patty Libby, of Turner, and Gloria Dunham, of Rumford; and one brother, Norman Chicoine, of Livermore.

She was predeceased by an infant son, Danny; five brothers, Arnold, Lawrence, Walter, Manny and Paul Chicoine; and two sisters, Betty Chicoine and Madeline Coombs.

A celebration of life will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center in Turner. Casual attire is requested in honor of Lois.

Arrangements are by Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls, ME 04254. If desired, send contributions to Turner Rescue, P.O. Box 135, Turner, ME 04282. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.finleyfuneralhome.com.

Dear Aunt Lois,
Thank you for all of the handmade dolls you gave me as a little girl. I treasured each and every one of them. Thank you for the love you gave us all through your peanut butter fudge and wonderful sense of humor. We will all miss you dearly.
Love, Lorinda
