Royce L. Horne

EAST BOOTHBAY -- Royce L. Horne, 91, of East Boothbay, formerly of Richmond, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at his home, with loving family at his side.

He was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Gardiner, the son of Arthur and Fay (Wilson) Horne.

Royce married Herberta F. Pare on June 12, 1937, and continued that love for 67 years.

His loves were simple: family, gardening, a little fishing, and a Sunday drive.

He was predeceased by his wife, Herberta; son Herbert Horne; infant son Robert; brothers Robert, Ed and Richard; sister Marion; and daughter-in-law Wendy.

Royce is survived by his daughter, Elaine Lorbeski and her husband, Peter, of Richmond; son David Horne and his wife, Debbie, of Richmond; son Peter Horne, of East Boothbay; son Randy Horne, of Industry; daughter-in-law Donna Horne, of Mount Vernon; sister Agnes Hersey, of Danvers, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Dan Onion and the staff of MaineGeneral Medical Center, the staff of Kno-Wal-Lin and the staff of St. Andrews Health and Family Care Center.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 1 to 2 p.m. with services at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond. A gathering will follow at the home of Elaine and Peter Lorbeski at 378 Main St., Richmond. Burial will take place in the spring.

Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
