Robert Beaudoin Obituary

AUGUSTA -- Robert R. Beaudoin, 88, formerly of Old Belgrade Road, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, after a long illness.

He was born in Augusta on May 20, 1920, the son of Elizee Beaudoin and Pauline (Gilbert) Beaudoin.

Mr. Beaudoin served honorably in the Army during World War II.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Patenaude's Superette as a meat cutter for several years. He was previously owner and operator of Beaudoin's Market on Washington Street, for many years.

Mr. Beaudoin was a member of St. Michael Parish, a lifetime member of the Calumet Club, a member of the AARP and a former member of Abnaki Council 334 Knights of Columbus.

He was a volunteer for Senior Spectrum Meals on Wheels and at Kennebec Valley Federal Credit Union for several years.

Mr. Beaudoin was predeceased by his first wife, Louise (Sirois) Beaudoin; and five brothers, Philip, Roland, Alfred, Gerard and Emile Beaudoin.

Surviving are his wife, Jeannette (Lacasse) Dostie Beaudoin, of Augusta; three sons, Paul Beaudoin and his wife, Patricia, of Augusta, Philip Beaudoin and his wife, Carol, of Ripton, Vt., and Norman Beaudoin and his wife, Lena, of Belgrade Lakes; two daughters, Lucille Suitter, of Chelsea, and Jeannette Faulkingham, of Augusta; a stepson, Gregory Dostie and his wife, Barbara, of Sidney; two stepdaughters, Catherine Urbanek, of Belgrade, and Alice Roy and her husband, Gary, of Augusta; one brother, Omer Beaudoin, of Augusta; two sisters, Anita LaPointe, of Vassalboro, and Therese Spears, of Augusta; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no public visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Spring burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Parish, 41 Western Ave., Augusta, ME 04330; or Maine Veterans' Home, 310 Cony Road, Augusta, ME 04330. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the funeral home Web site at www.plummerfh.com.

Paul, Philip, Norman, Lucille, Jeannette, Your Tante Tichou and I send our deepest sympathies on the death of your father. He was a wonderful uncle that I didn't see much as an adult but who was a big part of my childhood memories. I think you guys had the first television on Church Hill Road.

I CAN SEE HIM SINGING AT THE PIANO, TAKING US KIDS ON THE BOAT AND THE MEN DRINKING AND TROWING HORSESHOE, WORKING AT THE STORE ON SAND HILL WITH THE BIG PICTURE OF "CUSTER LAST STAND" IN THE BACKGROUND. HE WILL BE MISSED BY ME AND MY FAMILY, MY WIFE OVELYN AND MY CHILDREN, DANIEL, SEAN, CADDY AND NICOLE. LIKE MY FATHER AND HIS BROTHERS, WERE PART OF THE GREATEST GENERATION THAT EVER LIVED.HE WILL BE MISSED
