Virginia Gordon Obituary

AUBURN -- Virginia (Clark) Gordon, 89, a longtime resident of Old Lewiston Road, North Monmouth, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at Hospice House of Androscoggin in Auburn, and went to be with her Lord and Savior.

She was born on Nov. 21, 1919, in Colebrook, N.H., the daughter of Arthur George Clark Sr., who died in November 1957, and Hazel (Cass) Clark, who died in February 1983, of North Monmouth. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Roger, and brother Arthur Clark Jr., who died in October 2005.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jean (Gordon) Parker and her husband, Floyd Gilbert Parker, who lovingly took special care of her the last several years. She leaves a grandson, Todd Lindley Parker and his wife, Jennifer; two great-grandsons, Zackary and Chase, of Shrewsbury, Pa.; one grandson, Troy Parker and his wife, Cheryl; two great-granddaughters, Jerica and Jade Parker, of Maine; and one great-grandson, Trenton Cole Parker, of Florida.

She also leaves a daughter, Mary Lou (Gordon) Gamage, of Litchfield and her husband, Nelson Gamage and three grandchildren: first grandchild LouAnn (Gamage) DiStefano and her husband, Philip, great-granddaughter Heather (Albani) Dekarski, her husband, Anthony, great-great-grandson Cole Philip, and great-grandson Nicholas John DiStefano, of Westfield, Mass.; granddaughter Ginger Louise (Gamage) VanNostrand and her husband, Rick, of Granby, Conn.; great-granddaughter Jessica Mary Gianinoto, of Litchfield, Maine, great-grandson, Steven Louis Gianinoto and his wife, Julie, great-great-grandsons, Jack and Mason of Granby, Conn.; great-grandson, Ryan John Van Nostrand, great-granddaughter, Hala Mae of Granby; granddaughter, April Lyn (Gamage) Marzilli and her husband, David, great-grandson Adam David, great-grandson, Gregory Joseph, and great-granddaughter, Jenna Lynn Marzilli of Rocky Hill, Conn.; a daughter, Faith Gordon of Utica, N.Y.; as well as her beloved sister, Phyllis (Clark) Bishop Manchester of Tiverton, R.I.; several dearly loved and treasured nieces, nephews and cousins, and a multitude of loving dear friends too numerous to list.

She attended Monmouth schools. She married Roger Ellery Gordon on Jan. 10, 1937. They shared a special, loving marriage of nearly 50 years before he died in December 1986. Their door was always open to family and friends, to give comfort, help, food or just a good cup of coffee and a chat. They never met anyone whom they did not love and who did not love them back completely and devotedly. Virginia was blessed with so many special gifts: love of her Savior, spreading the word of God, cooking, baking beautiful cakes for all occasions, doing hair, teaching and hooking traditional rug hooking, sewing beautiful clothes for all her children, grandchildren and clients, knitting sweaters, coats, afghans, crocheting afghans for family, friends and more. She also did embroidery and many other challenging crafts; her most recent task was making German Bell ornaments. Gin's love and her special gifts of crafts are renown by all who knew her. She taught ceramics to many students, friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her home studio, VG Studio, North Monmouth

Everyone loved being with her whenever they could. Her exceptional love for her family, friends and people in need was such a comfort to everyone. She continued doing ceramics, making cards, scrap books, hooking and crocheting until a few months prior to her passing. Although there are many more tributes we could name, we shall end with the fact we loved her with all our hearts and souls and she will be missed by us all. Gin was a true Servant of the Lord and loved him above all else. She shall be in our hearts forever and we shall all remember the loving, fun times we shared through the years. You'll never forget your mother's face, the sound of her voice, the gentleness of her touch ... They let you know you were loved ... The stories she told, the traditions she handed down ... They let you know who you are ... The lessons she taught, the things she stood for ... They are her gift and your legacy ... And always know that you honor her every day in how you live and who you are.

Our love and thanks to the loving, supportive people from Androscoggin Hospice House. They were all such a wonderful blessing to the family and our Mother.

There will be no visiting hours or funeral services. A private family memorial service will take place in the summer. Arrangements by Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main St., Monmouth. Messages of condolence may be sent to: www.finleyfuneralhome.com.

To: The family of Mrs. Ginny Gordon,

My love to you all at this time. I know that your mother is rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus and Roger now. What a comfort to know she is there. She is looking down at you and does not want you to grieve. She is so happy where she is and free of all the agony on this earth.

I am sure she is praying for you and wants you to be with her one day and for those of you that you have not invited Christ into your heart, she wants you to. She wants to see you again someday. She loved Jesus, her saviour, so much and trusted in him fully. Please ask Christ into your heart. Christ is waiting to hear from you so you, too, will see your loved one again.

I know that this is one family that really loves Jesus and follow the Lord in their lives.

I am glad to have known and fellowshipped with your beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Aunt, and friend.

I am thankful for the special relationship she had with my family, especially my daughter Robena Mansir. She was like a grandmother to Robena.

I am praying for you and rejoicing with you that your beloved is with Jesus.

Love to all,

Bunny Mansir
