Wayne Wheeler Obituary

PRESQUE ISLE -- Wayne C. Wheeler, 70, died March 11, 2009, at a Houlton hospital.

He was born in Presque Isle on Dec. 10, 1938, the son of Roland and Winona (Cheney) Wheeler. He owned and operated his own trucking business for many years. Wayne was a member of Grant Memorial United Methodist Church in Presque Isle. He was also a member of Aroostook Lodge of Masons 197 in Mars Hill, York Rites, Scottish Rites and was a member of Anah Temple Shrine and Order of Quetzalcoatl.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Stonehouse) Wheeler, and a daughter, Tammy Wheeler, both of Presque Isle; a son, Gary Wheeler and his wife, Kelley, of Sidney; a daughter, Vicki Huston and her husband, David, of Mapleton; one grandson, Ryan Huston; one granddaughter, Alyssa Huston; a brother, Ralph Wheeler, of Presque Isle; a special aunt, Ruth James, of Chapman; a sister-in-law and her husband, Nancy and Vernon Gettig, of Readfield; a brother-in-law, Gary Jarvis and his wife, Avice, of Massachusetts; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grant Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Williams officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Grant Memorial United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 992, Presque Isle, ME 04769; or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, P.O. 735, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. Remember the bus No 9. and many yrs. before and after you and i went in same class.Really enjoyed him he was the only one that would order his supper west bound on 84 in Southington. Marilyn, I am at a loss for words and as you know that is not like me. I am so sorry for your loss and I'll always remember one night when we were at work & you and I and Sally were talking about our husbands and you said that you were going home to " your man with the little pot belly". Every time I saw Wayne after that (usually at Riverside) I would remember that. You have a lot of beautiful memories that you made together.
