Colleen Hobbs Obituary

DETROIT -- Colleen G. Hobbs, 79, died March 4, 2009, at a Brewer nursing care facility following a long illness.

She was born in Detroit on Nov. 18, 1929, the daughter of Cecil and Erma (Bryant) McLaggan.

She was educated in Detroit schools and a graduate of Maine Central Institute class of 1948. She owned and operated Lightbody Boarding Home in Pittsfield for many years.

Colleen loved crafting and sewing. She donated more than 200 quilts to babies with AIDS.

She is survived by one son, Halvor A. Magnus Jr. of Ripley; three daughters and their husbands, Sharen and Keith Wells Sr. of Pittsfield, Karen and Wes Francis of Corinth and Dede and Wayne Gamble of Levant; three brothers, Cecil McLaggan and his wife, Doris, of Albany, Ga., Delbert McLaggan and his wife, Joyce, of Detroit, and Royce McLaggan of Plymouth; two sisters, Beatrice Soucy and her husband, Francis, of Detroit, and Lorraine Bouffard of Pittsfield; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered by her former husband, Allen Lightbody of East Millinocket; her daughter-in-law, Rhonda Magnus-Crowe of Newport; and Michelle McLaggan and Barbara Webber.

She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Norman Bouffard; her sister-in-law, Mary McLaggan; and husbands Halvor Magnus Sr. and Harrison Hobbs.

Graveside services will be conducted in the spring at the Detroit Village Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport.

My name is Connie Curtis....I met Colleen when I was working as a pharmacy technician at Wal-mart in Palmyra.....Colleen was one of the most patient people I had the pleasure of getting to know while working in the pharmacy.....she always had a smile and good natured attitude was always evident....I am sorry for your family's loss.....many prayers to your family...
