Bernadette Veilleux Obituary

WATERVILLE -- Bernadette M. "Memay" Veilleux, 88, of Waterville joined her loving husband, Ernest, after a very sudden illness.

Bernadette was a member of Notre Dame Church. She retired from Keyes Fibre after 25 years and also worked at the Lock Duchess mill for 35 years. She attended Winslow schools. She passed at Maine Gerneral Medical Center in Waterville, surrounded by those who loved her beyond measure.

She was born on June 11, 1920, the daughter of John M. and Agnes M. (Derosby) Bourget. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Corrine M. Bourget; brother Alfred Bourget; sister Marie M. Bourget; and brother John Bourget.

Bernadette loved life, laughting and her family. She enjoyed family get-togethers and provided her delicious "dynamites" and her homemade beans on many occasions.

She was a worldly adventurer. Her many travels included trips to Tenessee, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Missouri. She especially loved to go to Florida. Her most recent trip, last winter, was an extremely enjoyable on for her. She spent time with her oldest son, Henry, and his family.

Her daily adventure and routine was spent about town with her daughter Corinne. They were frequently found shopping for the best deals, going out for breakfast and getting their hair done. Weekends were spent in the company of her youngest child, Roger, and his family; along with her youngest daughter, Elaine, and her family. Sundays were a very special day for them. Bernadette was connected via "cell" to her grandchildren, who lived locally, "down South" and "out West." They frequently kept her up to date on their goings-on. Bernadette was actively involved in the lives of all her family members.

She was an avid collector of piggy banks and cuckoo clocks.

She is survived by her children, Henry J. Veilleux and wife Kathy, Corinne M. Whitney and husband John., Elaine J. Hoag and husband Danny, and Roger J. Veilleux and wife Tammy; her grandchildren, along with their spouses/friends, include John Jr., Carol and Tim, Jeremy and Karen, Jocelyn and Dimitri, Jason and Ashley, Jenny and Kenji, Craig, Kristina, Timothy, and Johnathan. Her great-grandchildren include John III, Ben, Pat, Shanleigh, Ryan and Brandon.

Loving mother, memay and friend, she will forever missed and forever loved. She will be in our hearts and never forgotten.

A chapel service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Arrangements are with Veilleux Funeral Home, Waterville.

A special thanks go to Dr. Guiliarini, Dr. Aldailaimi, nurses Helen and Carold, and all staff involved in taking care of Memay.

Dear Elaine, Danny, Jason, and Kristina, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of spending time at your apartment over her house in Waterville when you babysat me as a child and your mother always being there with us! She was such a sweet lady, and I honestly don't think she ever aged a day through my whole life! I'll remember her with fond memories and keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Autumn
