SKOWHEGAN -- Freddie "Chummy" A. Wentworth, 85, of Skowhegan passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, after a brief illness and was surrounded by his family.

He was born July 5, 1923, in Brooks, the son of Fred and May (Brown) Wentworth.

He served in World War II from 1944 to 1946. He worked in the woods as a woodsman and he owned his own scrap yard. He retired in 2008.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1457 in Skowhegan and a member of the American Legion in Skowhegan. He enjoyed going on camping trips with his children and grandchildren. He loved to go fishing and hunting with his sons, daughter and Mark, and he also liked to play poker on Friday nights with his family and good friends Pete and his son Mike and Junior.

To our father, grandfather, friend and poker buddy, you will always be remembered and never forgotten. We will always love you and you will be sadly missed. You are now re-united with your wife who you have loved and missed dearly. Please give her a hug and kiss from all of us. We love you. Love, your children and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan.

Arrangements are entrusted to Smart & Edwards Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.

To Annie...........

Sorry to hear about your dad........
When I was a "blackjack" dealer at the club over the years, he was my best player. He would bounce from my table to a poker table all evening............He lead a good life.............
