Margaret Gove Obituary

Margaret Mary Gove, 89 BRADFORD, Vt. -- Margaret M. Gove, formally a long time resident of Bradford, Vt., and Boynton Beach, Fla., died peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at Grafton County Nursing Home. She was 89 years old. Margaret was born the daughter of Dr. Arby Johnson and his wife Elizabeth (Morrill) Johnson on March 1, 1919, in Bradford, Vt. Margaret graduated from Bradford Academy in 1937, and received her RN degree from Mary Hitchcock School of Nursing, in Hanover, N.H., in 1940. She worked in several different states and in several different fields of nursing, including Public Health for the State of Vermont. She and her mother ran a children's clothing shop, called 'Lad & Lassie' from her home for a number of years. She and Fletcher were co-owners of Gove & Bancroft Pharmacy in Bradford, Vt., for 21 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, and was the substitute organist for many years. She loved music, was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing golf. Above all, she took pride in her family. Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Miriam Allen, and her brother, Arby (Bud) Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Fletcher F. Gove of Newbury, Vt.; her children, Graham Gove and his wife Denise of Bradford, Vt., daughter Lona (Gove) Norton and her husband James of South Portland; and grandchildren, Melissa Gove, Stephanie Gove, Hillary Gove, Graham Norton and his wife Nicole and Gregory Norton. Arrangements are by Hale Funeral Homes, Inc. of Bradford & Thetford, Vt. A private memorial service will be held in the spring.
