Dearest DePeter family: This is a day mixed with both sadness and joy. Sadness for those whom she leaves behind, and joy for our sweet sister in the Lord Calista, now finally receiving her reward for a life well-lived in service to her Lord. Having met Calista and Charlie as the Root Cellar and serving alongside of them, I have come to admire them greatly for their generosity, love and service to Portland's East End inner-city neighborhood. To many that reside there, they have been lovingly adopted as dear friends and members of many a family. Calista had a gentle and caring, loving spirit that was evident to all who met her, and a strong, abiding faith in God. She was loved by many. She has left us all a lot richer and has left a wonderful legacy for all who had been blessed to know her. We will miss her, but we will meet again... Till then, sweet Calista, sleep with the angels. Charlie and family, we will stand with you in the days ahead, and promise to support you in whatever way we can. May your faith give you strength and courage through these difficult times. May God grant you His peace "that passes all understanding". Love you guys---your friends from the Root Cellar, Joanna and Dave Moore
