Patricia L. Peterson

Patricia L. (Coyne) Peterson, 81 SCARBOROUGH -- Patricia L. (Coyne) Peterson, 81, of Standish died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Peterson who died on Aug. 29, 2004. Patricia was born in Portland on July 3, 1927, the daughter of the late William and Lucy (Winter) Coyne. She grew up in South Portland and attended local area schools and graduated from South Portland High School as a member of the class of 1946. She and her husband where married on June 29, 1947, and celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2004. Pat started working at age twelve for Shaw's Supermarket before moving to A&P Grocery Store in Portland and retired from Paul's Food Center in 1989. Pat was an active member of the Standish Congregational Church as well as a member of the Women's United Church Group. She enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Peak's Island as well as her home on Watchic Lake. She was also an avid game player two of her favorites where Aggravation and cribbage. Patricia's greatest joy, though, was spending time with her family. She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Peterson of Gorham, and Cynthia Battey and her husband Paul of Rindge, N.H.; as well as 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late John Coyne, Frances Houston and William 'Mickey' Coyne; and the mother of the late Michael R. Peterson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, March 2, 2009, from 4-7 p.m., at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at 11 a.m., at the Standish Congregational Church, 25 Oak Hill Rd., Standish, with Pastor Cynthia Biggar officiating.
