Helmi Edith 'Cummings' Fiato, 87 FALMOUTH -- Helmi Edith 'Cummings' Fiato, 87, of Rockaway Road, died Monday, March 2, 2009, at her residence. She was born in Woodstock, the daughter of Carroll J. and Edith M. Rosenburg Cummings. Mrs. Fiato was employed at Burnham & Morrill for over 20 years until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Rainbow Methodist Church. When she was a young woman, she was a member of the Junior Rossini Club. She sang in many large cathedrals and churches, and was known for her beautiful voice. She enjoyed swimming, walking, and spending time outdoors especially visiting her camp in Locke Mills. She is predeceased by husbands Melvin Cook, Wallace A. Loffreda and Dominic J. Fiato; and her son, David C. Cook. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Arthur and Ellis Cummings. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Cook of Windham; sister, Carolyn and her husband Dick Schmidt of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, David and his wife Tracy Cook of Cumming, Ga., Christopher and his wife Tanya Cook of Standish, John and his wife Corrie Cook of Cumming, Ga., Angela and her husband Dave Green of Cumming, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Steven, Kylee, Eric and Caleb; and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Interment will be held in the spring.
