Marie Googins Obituary

Marie Louise Googins, 76 SOUTH PORTLAND -- Marie Louise Googins, 76, of South Portland, died Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on March 2, 1933, in Bath, the daughter of Rossell E. and Laura May (Carter) Mitchell. Marie attended local schools, and was a 1950 graduate of Morse High School. In January, 1951, she married William Cyrus Googins. He predeceased her in March of 2002. During the 1960s, Marie worked for Deering Ice Cream Shop and Puritans Restaurant in Portland. She loved her flower garden, and doing crafts and crossword puzzles. Marie was a very loving and caring person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Besides her husband, Marie was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Janice M. Googins of Scarborough; and a grandson, Shawn A. Googins of Westbrook. Family and friends are invited to attend a 12 p.m. graveside service on Tuesday, March 10, at Brooklawn Memorial Park, 2002 Congress Street, Portland. Arrangements are by the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ctcrawford.com.
