Florence Margaret Roux Roberge

Florence Margaret Roux Roberge, 94 SOUTH PORTLAND -- Florence Margaret Roux Roberge, 94, of South Portland died on March 8, 2009, at St. Joseph's Manor. She was born on Oct. 8, 1914, the daughter of Charles and Annie (McCullough) Roux. Florence was a lifelong resident of South Portland, attended local schools and was a South Portland High School graduate. She was a former communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and Holy Cross Church in South Portland. In the 1950s and 60s she was employed as the mail room manager for the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company. After the A & P closed operations in Portland, she was employed for several years in the notes department at Casco Bank. One of her greatest joys was following the success of her beloved Red Sox team. Florence was an avid reader, enjoyed playing games of chance with family and friends and for many years was an active member of the South Portland Emblem Club. Florence was predeceased by her husband, William Roberge, in 1992; and her daughter, Jeanne Marie Tibbetts, in 1994. She is survived by her sons, William J. Roberge and his wife Korel of Carmel and Dade City, Fla., and Robert C. Roberge and his wife Mary of Windham and St. Petersburg, Fla.; four cherished granddaughters; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Peter and Marilyn Roberge who visited her frequently. She had a special place in her heart for her friend and Broadway neighbor, Patrick Bellino, who visited her every Sunday. Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, at the Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at the chapel followed by a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Church, 611 Main St., South Portland.
