Kristy Lee Barbour

Kristy Lee Barbour, 49 WESTBROOK -- Kristy Lee Barbour, 49, of Whitehall Way, died March 9, 2009, at a Portland hospital. She was born in Portland, the daughter of Cleon M. and Marilyn E. Sherman Nelson Sr. Mrs. Barbour attended Scarborough schools, graduating in the class of 1977, and then she attended the University of Maine Farmington. She married George L. Barbour Jr. in Severna Park, Md., on April 1, 1999. Mrs. Barbour was employed by Group Main Stream of Portland for several years. She was a member of the Westbrook American Legion Auxiliary Post #197 and the South Gorham Baptist Church, Gorham. Her enjoyments included traveling and going on cruises to many islands in the Caribbean; and, also to Mexico, Austria, Las Vegas, California, Florida and many other U.S. states. According to her family, she was talented at crafts and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking as well as making scrapbooks. She was predeceased by her father in 1974; and a brother, Joseph E. Nelson in 2008. Surviving besides her mother, Marilyn E. Nelson of Scarborough and her husband, George L. Barbour Jr. of Westbrook are three step-sons, Leland G. Barbour of Portland, Stephen M. Barbour of Windham and Joseph R. Barbour of Bedford, Pa.; a brother, Cleon M. Nelson Jr. and sister-in-law, Lorinda B. Nelson both of Scarborough; a nephew, Ryan R. Nelson and a niece, Jessica Marquis. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at the South Gorham Baptist Church, 53 County Rd., Gorham with the Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating. Private burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Westbrook. Kristy Lee Barbour
