Harold Pingree Obituary

Harold Nelson Pingree, 81 SOUTH PORTLAND -- Harold Nelson Pingree, 81, of South Portland, passed away March 11, 2009, peacefully at the Gosnell Memorial House in Scarborough. Born on Sept. 7, 1927, in Manchester, the son of Arthur and Helen Flanders Pingree. He attended the local schools in Manchester. His working career began with him working on a farm in Cumberland. Mr. Pingree moved to Portland in 1944 where he worked on a farm in Falmouth. Then he went on to Hannaford Bros. where he worked for over 38 years as a truck driver and in the warehouse. He loved bowling on leagues, horse shoes and cribbage, and being with his family and friends and his family cat. Harold is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra E. Lawson Pingree; his children Suanne Smith and husband Lee of Gorham, Donald Pingree and wife Janice of Buxton, Dennis Pingree and wife Carole of Buxton, Linda Pingree and husband Keith Stokes of Kenosha, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Caelyn, Caden, Michael, Jennifer, Amanda and Ryan; three great- grandchildren; five sisters, Dorothy Choate of Hallowell, Mary Bunker of Clayton, N.C., Helen Sellers of South Portland, Sarah Libby of Scarborough, Jane Johnson of Scarborough, and one brother, Roger Pingree of Goldboro, N.C. Visiting hours will be 3-5 p.m. Monday, March 16, at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, where a funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to: The Gosnell Memorial Hospice House 180 U.S. Route One Scarborough, Maine 04074 Harold Nelson Pingree
