Robert J. 'Bob' Willwerth, 74 PEAKS ISLAND -- Robert J. 'Bob' Willwerth, of Peaks Island and Braintree, Mass., passed away after a brief illness, March 9, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Marcia (Riley) Willwerth; loving father of Robin McAuliffe of Connecticut, Sheryl Annino and her husband Anthony of Waltham, Mass., Carolyn Willwerth of South Portland, Robert J. Willwerth III of Medford, Mass., Wade J. Willwerth and his wife Lorraine of Reading, Mass., John A. Martin of Braintree, Mass., and Trent A. Martin and his wife Melissa of Hanson, Mass.; devoted brother of Anne Blaisi of Arlington, Mass., Eleanor Caven of Medford, Mass., and George Willwerth of Falmouth, Mass. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Bob grew up in Somerville, Mass., and graduated from Somerville High School. He was a master plumber who owned his own company for many years. A handyman, Bob built his home in Maine. He was a member of the VFW in Somerville and Braintree. Bob worked on the annual Memorial Day parade in Peaks Island for many years. He also worked as a buoy tender on the Maine coast for many years. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed barbecuing and was an avid sports fan. Reposing will be at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, Mass., until 8:15 a.m. on Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, Braintree, Mass. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be private.
