Jean Richardson Obituary

Jean Frances Richardson (Larrabee) SOUTH PORTLAND -- Jean Frances Richardson (Larrabee) passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Born April 10, 1940, to Richard T. Larrabee and Elizabeth R. Larrabee (Carmichael), Jean was a life-long South Portland resident, graduating from South Portland High School in 1958. She enjoyed 50 year of marriage to her high school sweetheart, Carroll T. Richardson, whom she met in a youth group at Immanual Baptist Church in Portland. Jean served as a polling site volunteer for several elections and was herself elected as Ward Clerk. After raising her children, she worked at Carroll Reed and then at her favorite job, the Maine Children's Cancer Program. Jean was an avid reader, bowler and card player, enjoyed a wide array of crafts, sang in musicals and the choir, and spent many summer evenings poking the fire at camp. Along with many of her extended family, she actively participated in Clan Carmichael activities, including captaining the clan tent at Scottish Games in Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts, and attending two Clan Gatherings on the Carmichael Estate in Scotland. Jean will be remembered for her sharp sense of humor, determination, the depth of her many friendships, and most of all, the love and attention Nahnie gave to her immediate and extended family. Jean was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Joyce Rader. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her daughter, Judy Bohn of Naperville, Ill., her son, Thomas Richardson of West Hartford, Conn.; her five granddaughters, Kelsey, Carolyn and Leigha Bohn and Elizabeth and Maddalena Richardson Brancato; her three sisters, Jude Thomas, Kim Carmichael and Pam Carmichael; and 10 nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 7-9 p.m., at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Rd., South Portland. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The Maine Children's Cancer Program 100 Campus Drive Scarborough, Maine 04074 Jean Frances Richardson
