Robert H. Durgin Jr., 57 GORHAM -- Robert H. Durgin Jr., 57, of Spiller Road, beloved husband and partner of Dora E. Durgin, second father to many and beloved uncle to several, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 9, 2009. Born in Westbrook on Feb. 25, 1952, he was the son of Robert H. and Anita T. (Bourque) Durgin Sr. He was raised and educated in Gorham, was a 1970 graduate of Gorham High School and a 1972 graduate of Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, formerly of South Portland. Bob was a carpenter all of his life and has been self employed since the mid 70s. He was on the Board of Directors of the Grace Community Chapel, in Saco. He will be sadly missed by his wife; mother; sister; beloved nephew Justin; as well as many family members and friends. There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Grace Community Chapel, 168 North St. (Route 112), Saco. Pastor Walter M. White will officiate. Arrangements are by the Dolby and Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to: The Grace Community Chapel Youth Camp P.O. While I was blessed with the pleasure of meeting Bob my only regret is that I did not get to know and admire him as so many did. Knowing the love and guidance Bob brought to my best friend Melody brings rest to my heart that his suffering here on earth has ended and he is now at peace in heaven. Knowing the love and support Bob brought to the entire Gawron family, to his loving wife Dora, as well as many others will be remembered forever. May your soul rest with God.

I did not have the honor of knowing Bobby personally and I am saddened that he has gone to heaven before I could meet him. I do know the impact his life had on so many others. His great love and generosity of spirit has personally and deeply touched someone who is now my dearest friend. I thank God that Bobby was here for Melody, mentoring her and molding her into the loving, giving person she is today. Melody has the biggest heart of anyone I know and I believe she inherited it from Bobby. Dora, my prayers are with you now that you may find comfort in God’s peace and great joy in the memory of your love with Bobby. The world is enriched because of Bobby’s time here and I look forward to meeting him someday in Paradise.
