Danny was always a friend, from playing softball for Blunt Park, to basketball at STI, to having a drink at Pine Point Cafe. He will be missed.

Sadly, I read in the paper today of the death of Danny Athas. Danny, older brother of Stevie Athas who is a teacher in the Springfield School Department, was the owner of the Pine Point Cafe and a friend of the Fitzgeralds. Often after basketball at Warner School on Parker Street, my buddy Rory and I would stop in at the Pine Point for a beer. Danny was always an excellent host and friend. In later years, I would run into Danny at the old Santi's in the South End where we competed in darts. He will be missed.
