Robert J. Fretz
Robert J. Fretz, 77, of Forks Township, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007 in his home. He was born on August 8, 1929 in Easton, son of the late Jacob A. and Louise Praed Fretz. Bob owned and operated Bobs Foreign Car Service formerly of Phillipsburg for many years. He was employed as an auto mechanic and service manager for the former Penske Porsche Audi, Kauppaur Porsche Audi, Warren Volkswagen and Krause Honda, Emmaus. Bob retired from Berts Automotive and Truck Services formerly of Forks Township. Bob served as a Forks Township supervisor for 12 years and as the announcer for the Freemansburg National Hill Climb for more than 26 years. He was a professional motorcycle racer. Bob was a graduate of Easton High School, class of 1947 and Cal Tech. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a charter member of Bushkill Valley Motorcycle Club, member and past commander of the Nazareth American Legion Post 415, he was a member of the Forks Township Kiwanis Club and life member of the American Motorcycle Association. Survivors: Bob is survived by sons, Kurt M. and his wife, Sandy Fretz, of Saylorsburg, Pa., Kevin A. Fretz of Nazareth, Pa., Steven M. and his wife, Terry Varga, of Phillipsburg, N.J., Timothy P. Varga of Pen Argyl, Pa.; daughters, Brenda M. Corkins of Pen Argyl, Cheryl R. Fretz of Forks Township, Amy L. Fretz and her husband, William Noyes, of Pen Argyl, Rebecca E. Fretz of Pen Argyl; his significant other, Elaine; 25 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Brothers, Alan P., John W. and a granddaughter preceded Bob in death. Services: Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Morello Funeral Home Inc., 3720 Nicholas St., Palmer Township. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was a mentor to Bob Parvin who was MY mentor in the auto-repair trade. Bob, was a great mechanic, a great guy and gave alot to the local repair indusrty. His sense of humor was second to none, and boy did he love those VW's
