LOS ANGELES (AP) - William H. Ginsburg, who was Monica Lewinsky's lawyer during the sex scandal of the Clinton presidency, has died. He was 70.

His daughter-in-law, Virginia Ginsburg, tells the Los Angeles Times ( ) that Ginsburg died of cancer on Monday at his home in the Sherman Oaks section of Los Angeles.

An obituary notice also appeared in the Los Angeles Daily News ( ).

Ginsburg was a medical malpractice attorney and a friend of the Lewinsky family when he agreed to represent her in 1998.

Lewinsky, a White House intern, was facing accusations that she lied under oath about having sex with President Bill Clinton. She avoided prosecution but testified before a grand jury. Clinton was impeached for allegedly lying about his relations with Lewinsky but was acquitted.
