"I met Theodore Bikel when I was about 17 years old at a house party in London while he was studying at RADA. He was the life and soul of the party. I well remember an anecdote he told about a visit to London that his father had made to see him.His dad's visit coincided with the Jewish holiday of Succot (Tabernacles). His dad told Theodore that he would like to go to a Liberal synagogue service. The two of them found the synagogue locked. After knocking and banging on the door a janitor appeared & asked them what they wanted. Theodore replied that they were there for the "srvices". The janitor replied in a heavy cockney accent "services, there aint no services ,today is a Jewish holiday "
I enjoyed watching Mr Bikel over the years . Will miss his presence greatly. May he rest in peace.

"My favorite folk singer of all time, I still keep his Songs of a Russian Gypsy on my iPod., along with Edelweiss which always gives me goosebumps. I was lucky enough to see him on Broadway as the Captain. So talented and such a gentle man! Thank you! My condolences to his family, friends, and fellow actors."
