August 16, 2013 "Having lived in this area for many years I thought of Colonel Day as one of us. I always followed with interest the many activities he was involved with as he continued to serve his community and fellow citizens. The week of his death I sat each morning with the newspaper and read about his accomplishments...the joys and sorrows that his family endured and I was moved to tears each morning as I read about this true hero of a man. I was so honored that his family allowed us to share in and be a part of this very personal time for them. The love and respect that they shared for this great man was so evident in the stories that were shared. Thank you for allowing us to see yet another side of one of the bravest men to ever serve our great country. His love of God, Country, and Family will live on in our hearts forever. May God give you comfort and His perfect peace. Thank you Day Family....for your sacrifice and service to America." - Frankie Henslee (Destin)
