Harold E. Morris Obituary


Harold E. Morris Harold E. Morris, 91, of Constitution Highway, Barboursville, Virginia, died on Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Harbor at Renaissance in Stanardsville, Virginia. He was born on November 17, 1921, in Greene County, the son of the late Thornton Morris and Elnora Shifflett Morris. He was also predeceased by his wife, Della Virginia Rogers Gibson Morris; five brothers, Wilmer, Junior, Philip, Landon, and Leon Morris; two sisters, Ellen Hartman and Vienna Upton; and one nephew, Keith Morris. Mr. Morris was a member of the Knights Chapel Church of the Brethren, a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired mechanist at Liberty Fabrics. Mr. Morris is survived by a stepdaughter, Linda G. Hensley and husband, Garvin "Tim", of Orange; a stepson, Roger Gibson and wife, Annis, of Barboursville; a brother, Hubert "Andy" Morris of Barboursville; two sisters, Loney Powell and husband, Cecil, of Stuarts Draft, and Estelle Peters of Knoxville, Tennessee; four step grandchildren, Tonya Baskerville and husband, Timothy, Todd Hensley and wife, Denise, Brian Gibson and wife, Gail, and Ryan Gibson and wife, Rachel; eight step great- grandchildren; ten nieces; five nephews; and twenty-five great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at the Preddy Funeral Chapel in Orange with Pastor Terry Jewel officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the Preddy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Medi Home Hospice, 1201 Stoney Ridge Road, Charlottesville, VA 22902.
