Charles Lemuell "Charlie" McCallister Charles Lemuell "Charlie" McCallister, 98, of Eastside Highway, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Augusta Health. He was born on September 25, 1914, in Augusta County, a son of the late Lemuell Columbus and Mary Bruce McCallister. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a member of Celebration Church of God in Waynesboro. He was a well known Barber in Manassas, Virginia, as well as Augusta County. He loved to attend church and visit the sick and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Effie Mae McCallister; and a son, Charles Linwood Corbin. Survivors include his wife, Ruby McCallister; a step-son, Steve Crawford and wife, Vicki, of Mount Sidney; two step-daughters, Roxie Miller and husband, Martin, of Grottoes, and Vinda Shaver and husband, Eddie, of Crimora; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Full Gospel Lighhouse Tabernacle in Elkton by the Reverend Homer Frazier and the Reverend Ronald Spencer. Burial will follow in Harriston United Methodist Church Cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post 340. Active pallbearers will be Charles Corbin, Dustin Corbin, Bill Hinkle, Joe Shifflett, Ernest Meadows, John Kelly, and Vernon Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be the Reverend Jonathan King, the Reverend Wayne Chant, Tommy Marshall, Timothy Martin, Dallas Fitz, and Daniel Wine. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013.
