Boll, Dennis Glenn age 65, of Granbury, TX and Spicer, MN, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 in Willmar, MN. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer, MN, followed by burial in Tromso Cemetery in Lake Lillian. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Green Lake Lutheran Ministries, Granbury First United Methodist Church, the Caring Bridge organization or a charity of choice. Dennis Glenn Boll was born on April 3, 1947 in Hutchinson, MN to Glenn and Dorothy (Brandert) Boll He graduated in 1965 from Atwater High School. He enrolled at the University of Minnesota, Morris, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. While at Morris, Dennis was co-captain of the football team and president of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the Signal Corp of the U.S. Army. In 1970 he married Lynne Salonen in Keewatin, MN. Dennis trained in electronics, specializing in computer repair, signals, communications, and crypto equipment at Fort Monmouth, NJ, and served in Bangkok, Thailand. He was honorably discharged in 1973, receiving the Army Commendation medal for meritorious service. He began working with Burlington Northern Railroad in 1973 as a computer technician, and in 1977 joined the BN management team. At the time of the BN and Santa Fe merger in 1995, he was promoted to Asst. Vice President, Signals. He retired from the railroad in 2006 and formed Integrated Signal Consulting. He was involved in scouting, little league football and baseball. After retirement, he and Lynne established a summer home in Spicer, MN where he was active in many volunteer organizations. He was a member of the Southwest Signal Engineers; AREMA; the American Legion and the Willmar Car Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cruising in his 1970 Dodge Super Bee. He is survived by his wife, Lynne; three sons, Christopher (Heather) of Sammamish, WA, Justin (Jennifer) of Louisville, CO, and Brian (Megan) of Elk River, MN; six grandchildren, Skylar, Connor, Aidan, Parker, Jackson and Emily; two brothers, Donald (Barb) of Lake Lillian, Rollie (Judy) of Willmar, MN and two sisters, Sharleen (Rolf) Berg of Sherman, TX and Emilie (Terry) Mikes of Willmar, MN; five nieces, six nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Dorothy Boll. Denny was a good man, who was loved by many and will be missed by all.
