Earl Henry Buck Obituary


Buck, Earl Henry, 86, passed away July 3, 2014. Visitation with family will occur on Thursday, July 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Northwest Free Methodist Church. Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 11 at 10:30 am at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Winfield, KS. Earl will be best remembered as a devoted and loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, a caring brother and a dear friend and neighbor. He graduated from Finlay College with a bachelor of science in electrical engineering. He served as a corporal in the infantry division of the U.S. Army from Jan. 1951 to December 1952. He married Dorothy Olson December 17, 1955. He retired in 1992 after working at Coleman and Learjet. Earl was brought up on a farm in Hamilton MO and was an avid gardener. He loved working in his yard. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Dorothy, going to dances, concerts, and music theater performances with friends. Earl took care of his wife when her health declined and was always there for his children. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Williams; his five children, sons, Larry Buck and Ken Buck; daughters, Susan Hopson, Karen Chambers and Linda Marler; and nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Buck, his sister, Esther Lyon; his brothers, Robert Buck and John Buck; and son-in-law, Drew Hopson. Memorials have been established with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and Northwest Free Methodist Church. Services by Broadway Mortuary.
