HAYES, Howard D., 74, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Velma Adams Hayes. Surviving him are his daughter, Janet Ballou and her husband, Alan; son, Doug Hayes and his girlfriend, Brittney Altadonna; brother, Harvey Hayes; grandchildren, Brittany, Spenser, Nicole, Shianne, Dalton, Lexi and Bella; numerous nieces and nephews, one being very special, Michael Parker; as well as his longtime hunting buddy and friend, Earl Nuckols. Mr. Hayes was a U.S. Army veteran and a longtime employee of Liphart Steel Co., Inc. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte. 10). His funeral will be 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dale memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, Ill. 60611.
