STEELE, Karla E., of Montpelier, passed away peacefully, after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer, on March 24, 2013, surrounded by her family and close friends. She was born on December 2, 1952 and is survived by her husband, Michael W. Steele; daughter, Lauren M. Steele of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Garland E. Eubank and Gary P. Eubank of Goochland, Va. She was preceded in death by her father, Edsel E. Eubank; and mother, Garland Dair Eubank. She was a member of Church of Our Saviour, Episcopal Church in Montpelier, Va. and a member of the DAR. Her spirit and love for life will live on through the many beautiful arts and crafts that she made including jewelry and knitting, many of which she gifted to friends and family members. She was a faithful wife and devoted mother whose strong will during her illness provided her family with strength and inspiration. During her many years as a dental assistant, she showed great compassion for her patients and always enjoyed conversing with them. She will be greatly missed by many. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Church of Our Saviour, 17102 Mountain Road, Montpelier, Va. with a reception immediately following in the church parish hall. The family would like to thank staff at the Virginia Cancer Institute for their wonderful care over the years. Funeral arrangements coordinated by Bliley's-Staples Mill.
