MARCHETTI, Martha Laverne Proffitt "Mimi," 78, beloved wife of Charles Marchetti for 58 happy years, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandmother, Lucy Moyer, who raised her; brothers, Junior and Bobby Proffitt; and her in-laws, Louis and Elizabeth Marchetti. Mimi loved her husband, children, and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Terry Marchetti DeLaney and her husband, Don, and Denise Marchetti Oswald and her husband, Steve; as well as her sons, Chuck Marchetti and his wife, Page, and Bobby Marchetti and his wife, Judi. The loves of her life were her grandchildren, Katie and Ann Marchetti, Ryan, Elizabeth and Mary Martha DeLaney, Stephen Oswald and Sarah Oswald Suttles, Jacqui, Robert and Grace Marchetti. Some of her fondest memories were boating on the Chesapeake Bay with her friends in the Virginia Yacht Club and the Richmond Power Squadron, and spending time aboard the "Daddy's Honey" in Florida and the Bahamas, as well as at her weekend home on the Northern Neck. Everyone loved Mimi, she was a kind, beautiful, gracious and generous woman. She fought a brave battle with cancer, but she never complained. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, Va. 23226, with interment to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Johns Hopkins University, Attn: Dina Mallis Klicos, Director of Major Gifts/Signey Kimmel Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center, One Charles Center, 100 N. Charles St., Suite 234, Baltimore, Md. 21291. The family would like to thank Maya Faison for the loving care that she gave to Martha.
