Bronze Star Memorial Site: Notable Deaths & Obituaries

The Bronze Star is a U.S. military decoration awarded for bravery, acts of merit or meritorious service. Established in 1944, the medal has been awarded in every armed conflict in which the U.S. has been involved since WWII. The award is also open to members of foreign armed forces assisting in U.S. military efforts. This memorial site was created to honor the brave men and women who have been awarded Bronze Stars.

Lester Vernon Ware, 94, of Limerick, formerly of Hickory, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in Sanatoga Center, Pottstown. He was born March 3, 1921, in Centralia, W.Va., a son of the late Emory B. and May Blanche Skidmore Ware. Mr. Ware was a graduate of Sutton High School in Sutton, W.Va. He served his country during World War II in the European Theater as part of the 80th Division of the Third Army.
