John P. Dubreuil Obituary

John Paul Dubreuil, longtime resident of Panama City, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 24 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born and educated in North Adams, the fourth of eight children of Leo H. and Marie (Lozo) Dubreuil.
He enlisted in the Army on March 16, 1944 and fought at the Battle of the Bulge under Gen. George S. Patton. He was awarded both a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Upon returning from the war he worked at Saulnier's Market, Ashcar Sales, Hunter Machine Co. and Prudential Insurance in North Adams.
He married Irene Saulnier on October 21, 1946. They moved to Springfield in 1956. He worked at Haberman Insurance; was a General Agent for Lincoln National Life; and later opened his own general insurance agency, Acres Insurance. John also owned and operated Brookbend Inn in Monterey before moving to Panama City where he was a painting/papering contractor.
He was active in local politics most notably as former governor, John Volpe's, campaign manager for Western Massachusetts.
John was a Fourth Degree K of C. He was an avid fisherman, and an extraordinary ballroom dancer; he could even dance on ice skates! He loved to ski, play tennis, golf and enjoyed curling up with a good western.
He leaves his daughters, Lynn Dubreuil and her husband, Chester Wasileski, Lisa and her husband, Dcn George Nolan; his grandsons, Matthew Wrisley, Sean and Conor Nolan; his sisters Lorraine Seymour, Shirley Whitney; his brother, Francis Dubreuil; and many nieces and nephews including, Greg Dubreuil and his wife, Nadine who helped care for him during his recent illness.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother's, Leo L., Raymond R., Wilfrid A. Dubreuil; and a sister, Pearl D. Erdeski.
FUNERAL NOTICE: His family and friends will meet on Thursday October 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael Cathedral, 260 State St. Springfield where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Baystate Children's Hospital or Dakin P.V.H.S. Forastiere Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
