SATTERFIELD, Robert Frank "Bob," 82, a much loved husband, father and grandfather, passed away June 19, 2013. Bob faced cancer in the same way he lived his life, with pride and courage. Born on October 12, 1930 in Lyman, S.C., he was an Eagle Scout, attended Clemson University and was a First Lieutenant in the Korean War. Shortly after being honorably discharged in 1960 with a Bronze Star, Bob moved to Richmond, Va. to start his professional career. He was a safety engineer for Liberty Mutual and eventually Johnson & Higgins. It was in Richmond where he met his lifelong companion, Ann Bankhead. They wed in 1962 and had two children, Robin and David. Ann, Robin and David live in Richmond and are grateful for the life Bob provided for them. Devoted to his faith, Bob became the administrator at Derbyshire Baptist Church after retirement and spent his life in pursuit of his faith. Bob is survived by his wife, Ann Bankhead Satterfield; daughter, Robin Ann Satterfield; son, David Martin Satterfield and wife, Koren; granddaughters, Delany and Summer; and a beloved sister-in-law, Dot Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colonel Milman I. and Volvinee Satterfield; and his brother, Don Satterfield. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013 in the sanctuary of Derbyshire Baptist Church. A reception will follow the service, where family will receive friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Derbyshire Baptist Church or Massey Cancer Center.
