In a post on Facebook, Crowell paid tribute to his friend by attaching an image of Clark and Crowell jamming in a recording studio. Crowell also updated his profile picture with an image of the two performers onstage together.

Johnny Cash’s daughter, Rosanne Cash, also posted a photo to Facebook showing her playing with Clark and Crowell.

Texas musician Radney Foster said on his Facebook feed that Clark “was a hero, mentor, and friend. I would not be the songwriter I am today if it weren’t for Guy Clark.

“Godspeed, old friend.”
