Cary R. Branch Jr. Cary R. Branch, Jr., 85, of Charlottesville, died Sunday, September 15, 2013. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 24, 1928, son of the late Cary R. Branch Sr. and Doris Sawyer Branch. He was also preceded in death by his wives, Celia Mitchell Branch and Gloria Louise Branch; a brother, Cary L. Branch; and a sister, Patricia Ellen Albertano. Mr. Branch was raised in Richmond and graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1949 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He served in Korea in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He left active duty in 1953 and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1969 at a Lt. Col. He was employed with Reynolds Metal Co. in Richmond from 1953 until 1960, working primarily in electrical design. Mr. Branch moved to Charlottesville in 1960 starting in sales at Piedmont Electrical Supply and then left in 1979 as Vice President. He founded Elite Electric and Utility Supply Corp. in 1981, retiring in 1991 and selling the firm in 1995. He remained Chairman of the Board until August 1998. Cary was a charter member of Meadows Presbyterian Church, serving previously as a deacon and elder. He was also a member of the VMI Keydet Club, the American Legion Post #74, B.P.O.E. Lodge #389, the Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club, S.C.O.R.E. Chapter 494 (Service Corp. of Retired Executives) and the retired Officers Assoc. He tutored at Clark Elementary School in Charlottesville previously and supported the Village School locally. Surviving are two sons, Cary R. "Bud" Branch III, Robert M. Branch and his wife, Tricia, all of Charlottesville; a daughter, Elizabeth Lynn Armor and her husband, Jeff of Sarasota, Florida; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday September 18, 2013, at Meadows Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
