John "Tom" Thomas Underwood John "Tom" Thomas Underwood, 69, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died on Thursday, February 28, 2013. He was born on August 31, 1943, in Riverdale, Maryland. He was preceded in death by his parents John Robert Underwood and Willie Harris Underwood. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Blake Underwood; by his beloved children, Chris Fleischauer and her husband, Jerry, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and William Robert Underwood and his wife, Jennifer, of Keswick, Virginia. Also surviving him are three grandsons, Ryan Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Thomas Underwood and Tyler Underwood, both of Keswick, Virginia; and one granddaughter Haley Johnson of Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of Charlottesville Elks Lodge 389, the District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, President of Virginia Elks Youth Camp, Elk of the Year 2012, Charlottesville Elks Lodge 389, and a past State Elk of the Year. He had worked for 25 years in the banking field before retiring in 2006 from Building Services, Albemarle County Schools. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Charlottesville Elks Lodge 389, with the Dr. Joel Jenkins officiating. A reception will follow.
