"I first saw Steve Schneider in Gothenburg, Sweden, just days before his death. He gave the best presentation to the World Sociological Congress - having received just hours notice that he was to talk that day. He was truly inspirational. Accidentally meeting this lovely man a few hours later in a cafe reinforced that view. My deepest sympathies go to his family and friends. This is a loss to the whole planet."
