SCHRAGE, Tracy Hanson, ended her fight with cancer on Sunday, April 28, 2013. Born at West Point, N.Y., in January 1970, she is survived by her parents, William and Betsy Schrage; her sister, Beverly Schrage and husband, Curt Lutz; brother, John Schrage and children, Tyler Schrage and Kayleigh Todd; life partner, Meredith Mullins; aunt/uncles, Betsy Schrage Crane and Richard Crane and Frank Norvell; cousins, Michael and Beth Ann Norvell, and children Dylan and Savannah; cousins, Jennifer and Charles Saunders. Tracy was a highly regarded Richmond professional fire fighter for her last 12 years; whose avocations included climbing mountains, trail hiking and camping, running marathons and a plethora of challenging wilderness activities. A graduate of West Virginia University and VCU (MA), she devoted much of her life to teaching young people the skills for safely enjoying life in the outdoors. During her years in Richmond, many friends joined her in hiking and climbing venues across the U.S. and Canada, in parts of South America and in Southeast Asia. Others ran with her in marathons, including N.Y.C., D.C., and Berlin. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in wilderness locales. Plans for a memorial service are incomplete. Donations in Tracy's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
