William Preston Schwab William Preston "Bill" Schwab, 61, of Gordonsville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the Hospice of the Piedmont, Hospice House.
Bill was born on March 3, 1951, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Carroll and Phyllis Schwab. He was a loving husband and father whose absence will be greatly missed.
He served in the United States Navy stationed in Adak, Alaska, and on the LPD7 during the Vietnam war. Bill was a member of Meadows Presbyterian Church. After a 25 year career with Eastman Kodak Company he joined Albemarle County Fire and Rescue and served as a firefighter medic until he retired. Bill was a long time member and Assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 19 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He earned his Wood Badge and supported his son who earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill enjoyed anything that took him outdoors including hiking, fishing, camping, kayaking, metal detecting and wood carving.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Vicki Street Schwab; his beloved son, James William Schwab and fiancÂ‚e, Heather Renee Reese; and his grandchildren, Heath Riley Schwab and Gauge Davis Jenkins of Waynesboro, Virginia; his brother, Robert Adams Schwab of Dallas, Texas, and his wife Cathy, and their children, Tyler and Emily; his sister, Robin Ruthanne Perryman, and her husband, Gary, and their children, Kathy, Danielle and Scott; his sister, Betsy Joanne Perryman, and her husband, Donald, and their children, Robert and Jonathan; both of Fairfax, Virginia; his sister, Angela Marie Seago, her husband, Mark, of Earlysville, Virignia, and their children, David and Kyle. He is also survived by a brother in-law, Bill Street and his wife, Debbie, of Springfield, Virginia, and their children Bekki and Nikki; sisters-in-law, Debbie McCaughey, her husband, Tim, of Charlottesville, Virginia, and their children, Erin and Sean, Lori Kruczek, and her husband, Steve, of Peachtree City, Georgia, and their children, Kristin and Sara, Jodi Holden and special family friend, Lance Alsip, of Fairfax, Virginia; aunts and uncles, Alice and Bill Giannini, Joan Snapp, Peggy and Connie Embrey, Margie Schwab; and a special cousin, Vicki Bibb and her husband, Gary; and great-aunt, Katie Coiner. He is also survived by many other cousins and great- nieces and great-nephews throughout the United States.
A service to honor Bill will be held at the Meadows Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville, 1 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012.
