Jerry Jernigan Mannbeck Obituary


Jerry Jernigan Mannbeck passed on from this life with her family by her side on July 26, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

Jerry Wanda was born in Seymour, Texas on November 23, 1936, the youngest child of the late John Wiley Jernigan and Mattie Jack Johnson.

Jerry retired from the General Motors Division in Sandusky, Ohio, prior to returning to her birth state of Texas. She and her husband George M. Mannbeck owned and operated the Cedar Sands Motel of Surfside, Texas for many years. She and George were also active residents of the Kelleys Island Ohio Community.

She has been welcomed into the arms of those who have gone before her. Husband George, parents John and Mattie, brother John Cecil Jernigan, sisters Estelle Gawlak, Louise Coombes, Irene Dunham, and Bobbie Holcomb.

She is survived by daughters Kimberly (Martin) Reed of Sandusky, Ohio and Kelli Petrick of Freeport, Texas. Grandchildren Mandolin Thompson, Melanie (Kris) Deering, Jordan Jamison, Mariah Reed, Dylan Petrick, and Skyler Airrington. Surviving siblings include brother Clarence Jernigan (Wanda), sister Juanita Harkom and sister Opal Helm. All siblings are from Texas.

We celebrate in laughter and tears with the knowledge she is of strong spirit and soars free into the light of love and peace.
