William O. Bilden Obituary

Bilden, William O. Passed away on July 6, 2013, at his home in Edina, MN, at the age of 94. His wife, Bernadine, predeceased him in 2001. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Shearer, daughter Anna Parker, son William O. Bilden, Jr., four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bill was a decorated WWII veteran, serving as a reservist in the United States Marines and as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in Government and attended Harvard University School of Law. He left law school and began a distinguished career as a philatelic dealer. He founded William O. Bilden Stamp Co. in 1946. He was a member of the American Philatelic Society, the American Stamp Dealers Association, and was a juror for the British North American Philatelic Society. He was a member of Edina Country Club for more than fifty years. Private family service and burial at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, MN. Memorials preferred to Fairview Hospice.
