HARRY GRABEL Obituary

Photo

GRABEL, HARRY 83 - of Atlantic City, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2013. Harry was born in Poland on July 2, 1929, he was a Holocaust survivor and after coming to the United States, he served in the Korean War. He moved to Margate in 1966 with his family. Several years later in 1972, he purchased what was then the Tropics Bar in Atlantic City, renaming it Grabel's which went on to become an institution. Everyone loved the "Friday Night Happy Hour"! It was just a bar when he bought it, but through the years he made many changes such as adding a restaurant, piano bar, live music and DJs, and many other innovations. He owned and operated Grabel's for 33 years. Harry also loved playing poker at the Taj Mahal, where he made many friends. He was a generous man who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Harry will be missed by many people of all walks of life, as he was a man among men! Harry is survived by his two sons, Mark and Scott and his grandsons, Max and Caleb. His most enduring quality was his unique sense of humor and his love and dedication to his family which he treasured to the end. Relatives and friends are invited to attend graveside services Wednesday, June 19th, at 11am, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Fire Rd. & Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Twp., NJ. A tribute to Harry's life will be celebrated June 26th at 7:30pm at the Greenhouse in Margate. Arr. ROTH-GOLDSTEINS' MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Atlantic City www.rothgoldsteins.com
