In late August of 2005,
Hurricane Katrina swept across Florida before touching land again in the Gulf Coast. By the time the storm moved on and the resulting flood waters subsided,
Katrina had become one of the deadliest hurricanes in American history, taking an estimated 1,800 lives, leaving thousands homeless and causing billions in property damage. This site was created to pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in a disaster now remembered as a national tragedy.
