"Revius Ortique was my dad's cousin. Revius is an honored member of the Orticke family who has by his life demonstrated that there is a good and merciful God who answers prayer. One of the last things he called to say to me before he passed was that "It (his life) was a good run!" We are very proud of you cousin Revius.God be with us all in Jesus! Amen.

"I AM BELATED SIGNING THIS GUEST BOOK. HOWEVER, IT IS BEING DONE NOT WITH SORROW BUT WITH THE PRIDE OF HAVING KNOWN BOTH THIS VANGUARD OF PROGRESS FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR IN PARTICULAR AND ALL PEOPLE REGARDLESS OF COLOR IN GENERAL. THANK YOU SIR FOR ALL YOU TOLERATED DURING YOUR STRUGGLE TO PROVE US ALL AS BELONGING TO THE HUMAN RACE... I FIRST GOT MY COGNIZANCE TO SUCH DIFFICULTIES WHILE ATTENDING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT ALBERT WICKER WHERE I HAD THE GOOD FORTUNE TO BE EDUCATED BY MRS. ORTIQUE. IT WAS THRU THAT TEACHER STUDENT RELATIONSHIP THAT I CAME TO KNOW JUDGE ORTIQUE...I WANTED TO DO YOU BOTH PROUD OF ME...I WROTE MY FIRST BOOK IN COLLEGE AT UNO AND WAS SUMMONED TO JUDGE'S ORTIQUE LEGAL OFFICE WHICH WAS THEN NOT TO FAR FROM THE CIRCLE FOOD STORE NEXT TO LIBERTY BANK...HE READ IT, SHOOK HIS HEAD AND TOLD ME THAT HIS WIFE WANTED TO SEE ME; HE SAID THAT I HAD MADE A BED WHICH WOULD BE HARD TO LIE IN BUT THAT HE RESPECTED ME FOR BEING SO BOLD. HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD PROBABLY BE A PARIAH AS A RESULT! I NEVER FORGOT THAT DAY. I ONLY PRAY THAT HIS SOUL WILL GIVE ME FURTHER DIRECTION FOR WHAT LITTLE TIME I HAVE LEFT ON PLANET EARTH. MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO HIS WIFE AND FAMILY."

"To the Ortique Family
I am so sorry for your loss. I only learned of the Judge's passing today. He was truly a part of my family history as he performed the marriage ceremony for my husband and I, for my sister's marriage and also liked to tell us that he was the one responsible for introducing our parents. He will always live on in our hearts and memories."
