Retired professor Emeritus Charles Homer Bast of Roanoke College in Salem, died on Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home in Salem, Va. He was preceded in death on June 2, 2008, by his wife of 66 years, Mary Jane Lightner Bast; and grandson, Matthew Lee Bast, on March 4, 1986.
