Bill Lee Parish, Sr., passed away at age 81 on October 4, 2012, at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs.
He was born on September 12, 1931, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Virgil Parish and Della Parish, who preceded him in death. Bill was drafted in the Army on May 1, 1950 and was stationed 2 years in Germany where he was prepared for battle during the Korean War. He got his honorable discharge on April 20, 1960. He then went on to work 40 years as a taxidermist for Northwestern School of Taxidermy and 15 years at Horseshoe Casino.
Bill was also preceded in death by son, Billy Parish, Jr.; brother, Don Parish; sister, Betty Salerno; and sister, Jean Howard.
He is survived by wife, Hope Parish; son, Robert Leftridge and his wife, Lisa; son, Terry Parish; brother, Bob Parish and his wife, Lonnie; sister, Doreen Parish; sister, Shirley Adams; step-mother, Leora Parish; 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family Sunday, 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. Funeral Service Monday, 1 p.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors. Luncheon to follow at the Walnut Hill Reception Hall, 1350 E. Pierce Street.
