Donald Edward Raines Obituary

Donald "Beady" Edward Raines Donald "Beady" Edward Raines, 81, of Stanardsville, passed away Monday, September 9, 2013, at his residence. He was born November 3, 1931, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Cecil Eugene Raines and Minnie Ola Wise Raines. Mr. Raines was a member of Shiloh Church of the Brethren in Kinderhook. He was retired from VDOT in Greene County after 27 years and was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Frances May Raines of Stanardsville; a daughter, Debbie Shifflett and husband, Glenn, of Barboursville; a son, Michael Raines and wife, Vicki, of Stanardsville; three sisters, Darlene Hoffman and husband, Joel, Marjorie Madison and husband, Bill, Doris Shifflett and husband, Roger, all of Ruckersville; five grandchildren, Amy Gibson and husband, Christopher, Brandon Shifflett and wife, Belinda, all of Stanardsville, Brittany Shifflett of Barboursville, Keshia Raines of Ruckersville, Kevin Raines and wife, Jennifer, of Stanardsville; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by the Reverend C.C. Kurtz with interment at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the funeral home.
