John "Jack" Paul Bartley John "Jack" Paul Bartley, beloved brother, husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, surrounded by his children. Jack was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1931, to James and Mary Bartley, where he attended West Catholic High School. After serving in the United States Army during the Korean War, he returned to Philadelphia to attend St. Joseph's University. In Philadelphia, he met his wife and love of his life, the late Mildred "Millie" Kelly Bartley. Jack and Millie had three children and raised them in Springfield, Virginia, while Jack spent his career serving his country as a Systems Analyst working in the Pentagon for the Department of Defense. Jack and Millie retired to Crozet, Virginia, where they spent their remaining years enjoying time with their children, grandchildren, close family and friends. Jack is survived by his daughter, Beth Ann Bartley of Ruckersville, Virginia; daughter, Mary Bartley Sherman and her husband, Tom, of Crozet, Virginia; son, Paul Bartley and his wife, Ute, of Cary, North Carolina; his brothers, Andrew "Jim" Bartley of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, David "Ron" Bartley of Cumberland, Rhode Island, Joseph "Joe" Bartley of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren that he adored, Ryan, Lena, Laura, Anna, Emma, Sydney, and Lisa. Memorial services for Jack will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church in Charlottesville, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation or donation to your favorite charity in his name.
