Marvin Vollrath Obituary

Vollrath, Marvin 78, of New Ulm and formerly of New Germany, died Friday at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm where he became a resident in July of 2007. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 - 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm. Burial will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Hollywood Township, Carver County. To sign the guest book or to leave a condolence to the family go to Marvin is survived by children, Elizabeth Vollrath, Paula Abraham, and Marvin Vollrath, Jr.; stepchildren, Mike Radke, Tom Radke, Teresa Gregory, Amy Radke, and Michelle Deuhs; two grandchildren, two great- grandchildren; and by brothers, Rueben, Howard, Edward, and Norman. Preceded in death are his wife, Odella; brothers, Raymond and Elmer, and a sister, Ruth. Marvin was born May 5, 1934 in New Germany to Adolph and Johanna (Speigner) Vollrath. He was a Korean War Veteran serving with the Marine Corps from 1954 - 1956. After being honorably discharged Marvin move back to the New Germany area. He worked at Super Valu in Hopkins for over thirty five years retiring in the early 1990's. Marvin loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes, fishing and listening to baseball especially The Twins, on the radio.
